한미정신건강협회 (Korean American Behavioral Health Association)는 오는 11월 3일 노인 정신건강문제를 시작으로 총 5회에 걸쳐 “연령별로 본 한인사회 정신건강문제 (Mental Health Issues in Korean American Community across the Life Span)” 를 주제로 세미나를 개최한다. 이번 첫번째 세미나는 치매를 중점적으로 다룰 예정이며 이 분야 권위자인 심리학자 김동수 박사와 뉴욕시립대 교수 조소연 박사가 강사로 나선다. 세미나 대상은 정신건강전문가와 이에 관련된 관계자들로 이번 기회에 노인 정신건강에 대한 많은 정보를 얻는 기회가 될 것이다. 참석하기를 희망하는 분은 kabhany@gmail.com으로 신청하면 된다. 인원은 30명으로 제한되어 있다.

The Korean American Behavioral Health Association (KABHA) is pleased to announce the launch of our bi-monthly seminar series entitled “Mental Health Issues in Korean American Community across the Life Span.” Each seminar will be presented by experienced mental health professionals and is designed to offer valuable information for professionals and community members alike, to foster greater understanding and enable early intervention.
Our inaugural seminar will focus on senior mental health and will be held on Friday, November 3, 2023, at 6 PM at 134 W 29th St, 2nd Floor, New York, NY 10001.
We cordially invite you to attend and partner with KABHA to disseminate this event's details among your colleagues and friends.

Dr. Dongsoo Kim, Ph.D. "What is Dementia? How to Differentiate Dementia from Mild Cognitive Impairment and Depression."
Brief Bio: Dr. Kim is a NJ/NY licensed Bilingual Clinical Neuropsychologist who has been
practicing for approximately 20 years in Englewood, NJ. Dr. Kim is also a Clinical
Director of the Mental Health Program in the Korean Medical Program at Holy Name
Medical Center. He was trained at Yale University Medical School and postdoctoral
fellowship at Nathan Kline Institute for Psychiatric Research. He provides mental health
assessment and therapy sessions for children, adolescents, adults, and seniors.
Dr. Soyeon Cho, Ph.D. "Caring for Family Members with Dementia: Navigating the Struggles and Challenges."
Brief Bio: Dr. Cho is an associate professor at CUNY/New York City College of Technology.
Her research centers on the mental health challenges faced by minority older adults.
Specifically, she investigates how older adults with chronic conditions manage stress
every day. Dr. Cho is committed to providing workshops to educate home health aides
and family members on caring for older adults with degenerative cognitive impairments.
